Veterans’ Group Life Insurance (VGLI): allows you to convert your Servicemember’s Life Insurance (SGLI) coverage to renewable group life insurance when you leave the service.  VGLI provides coverage as long as you pay the premiums.  You can get between $10,000 and $400,000 in term life insurance benefits. Note: When you leave the military, you can sign up through VGLI for coverage up to the amount you had through SGLI. You can also increase your coverage by $25,000 every 5 years—up to $400,000—until you’re 60 years old.  You can purchase additional coverage up to the current maximum of $00,000.  To increase coverage, you must be under age 60 and you can purchase $25,000 of additional coverage every 5 years.  No medical underwriting is required for the additional coverage.  There are  3 ways to apply for VGI:
